Role Blocker

A Role Blocker is a role given to a player, giving them the ability to cancel another player's powers for one night. A Role Blocker targets a player each night, and any powers that player possesses will fail to activate. Whether this stops a mafia kill or not, or how many it would stop (for larger games) is up to the host. Role Blockers are one of very few special roles that are often given to members of the Mafia, because their effectiveness is typically limited, even with great information.

The presence of a Role Blocker is traditionally very strong evidence that other advanced roles may be in play, such as Bus Drivers, Vote Manipulators, or other more rarely used types of special roles.

Due to their unpredictable nature, Role Blockers are usually only effective when networked with other players of like alignment, however exceptions do exist where a lone Role Blocker has made a significant impact on the game, sometimes unwittingly.

Types of Role Blockers

Vanilla Role Blocker - Traditional Role Blocker. Targets one person per night, that player may not take actions.

Vote Blocker - This is a role blocker which instead nullifies the target's vote.

Anti-Role Blocker - This variation is a type which prevents the target's power from being blocked or misdirected, and as such instead roleblocks guardians, bus drivers, and others who would defend the target's target.

Playing as a Role Blocker

-Gathering of information is essential, especially if you are working against a team which employs a guardian, which you are the primary weapon against.
