Neutral

A Neutral is a role given to a player, which allows the player to win with more than one faction. Typically the win condition of a Neutral player is to survive until the end of the game, at which point they claim victory with the winning team. However, unlike actual members of those teams, they are considered to have lost if they do not survive until the end.

Neutrals are commonly given additional powers to aid them in their survival, but not always.

In a game with either several neutral players, or in which the neutral player(s) are powerful, gaining the allegiance of the neutrals is usually a high priority for both teams. In most such games, the team which the neutrals side with tends to win the game, even if at an initial disadvantage.

Note that the Serial Killer is not a neutral role, since neutrality implies flexibility of win condition, whereas the Serial Killer may only win with himself.

Types of Neutrals

Vanilla Neutral - A player whose win condition is simply to survive until the end of the game

Not-Too-Neutral - A neutral who can specifically not win with one or more factions. Only applicable in Faction Games.

On The Fence - A neutral who is expected to or must choose a side to help during the course of the game. Typically this is because they are given powers or abilities to use. Changing sides is usually as simple as a whim for these players.
