The inevitable win is a condition under which one faction will achieve victory regardless of actions taken during the course of the rest of the game. This condition ends the game in favor of whichever faction achieved the inevitable win. The most common example of this occurs when the mafia faction outnumbers the village, in which case it is assumed that even if the mafia revealed themselves publicly, since they now control the vote, it would be impossible for the village to achieve victory.

Occasionally if one side is dominating in such a way that it is overwhelmingly likely they will win, the host will call the game in an inevitable win. Usually, though, this condition is reserved for when the situation is truly inevitable.

The following conditions always prevent an inevitable win:

The following conditions may prevent an inevitable win:

  • The village outnumbers the faction in question.
  • At least one vigilante which is not aligned with the faction in question is still alive.
  • Unused conversions are currently in play.

The following assumptions are made concerning an inevitable win:

  • The faction in question uses all of their votes on the same, unaligned person, every night.
  • The faction in question knows nothing about opposing faction's identities, and thus will always hit the least important target.
  • All opposing factions know everything of the faction in question's identities, and thus will always hit the most important target.

If, under those assumptions, the faction in question will still win the game, it is an inevitable win.
