Gosling (formerly known as mtvcdm) is a long-time Phalla player most notable for, in a career dating back to the cancelled Phallaponesian War in February 2007, never once being assigned an evil role. In fact, Gosling has only been assigned a non-vanillager or non-mason role once in his Phalla career, drawing a vigilante role in Nocturne and being killed on Day 2 of that game. He has grown increasingly frustrated with this streak with each passing game, culminating in a withdrawl and claimed retirement on Day 2 of Six Phalla Samurai in May 2009. This led to what ended up as a seven-month sabbatical; Gosling retuned for Ultima VII: The Black Gate in January 2010.

Castle Phalla remains Gosling's sole win to date.

When playing, Gosling tends to be among the most prolific posters on any roster, and usually will enact at least one unorthodox strategy. These strategies tend to be poorly thought through, with a major flaw quickly being pointed out by another player, as often as not leading to a bandwagon on Gosling.

When hosting, Gosling emphasizes time-sensitive gameplay, with the effects of many special roles being enacted as soon as they are activated by the player. For example, where a seer is usually told of their target's role at the end of the night, Gosling will give the results of the seering as soon as he receives the order. He is just as prolific a poster when hosting as he is when playing, much to the chagrin of some of his players.

Gosling, then mtvcdm's, role PM from Phallian Phalla:

"mtvcdm! Uh oh. It looks like the creators of this Phalla screwed up; they put a conversion mechanism in the game! Well, you know better than to allow a Phalla to have a conversion mechanism, don't you?

Once per day, you may choose one person. That person is protected from conversion for the day. You will also be notified when someone is converted. You will not be told who it is, but for the remainder of the Phalla you may choose to unconvert someone instead of protecting them from conversion. Attempting to unconvert someone who is not converted will have no effect."

The conversion mechanism refers to Gosling's role as host of The Mole, when he implemented a mechanic that reassigned the roles of three players so as to create a 50% chance of being good or bad. However, evil roles made up 10% of the original roster, leading to the players simply voting out all players with reassigned roles.
